Star's first year will be limited to the west coast of Florida, although anglers throughout Florida are eligible to participate as long as they are CCA members in good standing. The tournament format includes multiple target species and overlapping divisions for any anglers who have correctly registered for the tournament. STAR's stated goal in the coming years is to expand into all waters of the state, including the East Coast and Florida Keys. By doing so, the tournament rules will eventually include other species in its format (pelagics, for example). Tournament rules require a photo capture format for all tournament categories. Photographs must be taken while a tournament eligible fish is alive and in releasable condition.
